The Weekend Edition - About your edges...

Hi Weavers!

Messy edges are the bane of new weavers, but the good news is that neat, consistent edges are not a talent reserved for the naturally gifted.

They’re a skill, and like all weaving skills, they come down to understanding what your threads are doing and developing a few simple habits.

Your edges reflect your rhythm, your consistency, and your confidence at the loom. Once you learn how to place your weft intentionally, allow the right amount of draw-in, and maintain even tension, everything begins to settle.

As you practice, your weaving looks more polished and professional.

I’ve put together some of my best resources below to help you understand and improve your edges, no matter where you are in your weaving journey.

NEW FROM PICKERS RIDGE

Pickers Ridge have been busy bees, crafting up some more beautiful wood tools for weavers.

Their new belt and stick shuttles are available in 7 - 22" lengths and all have one tapered edge, so can be used as either a regular stick shuttle or a belt shuttle.

As always, these are carefully hand crafted from sustainable local wood sources by husband and wife team Tim and Tui.

I already own one of their gorgeous Figured Silk Maplewood belt shuttles.

The Figured Silk Maplewood contains beautiful natural rippling. These usually sell out quickly as each piece is completely unique.
