Hi Weavers!
Lately, I’ve been so inspired by the beautiful ways my students have taken weaving patterns and completely made them their own.
It reminded me that patterns aren’t just instructions—they’re invitations to explore, experiment, and express who you are as a weaver while taking advantage of some guidance.
In this new blog post, I’m sharing 5 creative ways to take any weaving pattern and infuse it with your unique style. Whether it’s your first project or your fiftieth, these tips will help you see patterns in a whole new light.
5 Ways to Make Any Pattern Your Own...

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO...
My new friends - Pickers Ridge Hardwood Designs.
They are a family run business from Far North Queensland who design and craft unique items from wood.
Wood for the business is sourced sustainably in Australia with the majority ethically sourced from the wet tropics.
I've been using one of their Round Essential Oil Diffusers in my studio with some of my favourite scents. The wood diffuser gives a lovely gentle scent without the need for electricity.
I'm also really enjoying their beautiful walnut wood boat shuttle. These are a closed bottom shuttle that are easy to hold and use.
I've been testing the 13" shuttle on my big floor loom with a 150cm wide project and have had absolutely no warp dives! 🥳 This boat shuttle, and all the other Pickers Ridge shuttles take a standard 100mm bobbin (I'm using Ashford ones).
What a blessing to have handcrafted Australian boat shuttles available at a very reasonable price point! I've heard a rumour that there may be more weaving tools in the works too 😉
Shipping is free in Australia, so take a moment (or longer) to have a look around the beautiful online store, international shipping is also available:

So at this stage there are quite a few of my most popular articles that I will go back to and improve upon by adding in clearer language, additional resources and new images.
Here is this week's article that received an upgrade, I hope you find it has even more value now than before:
